Where political decisions were made in former times
The World Conference Center Bonn is located in the middle of Bonn’s former government quarter and is a unique facility: only here can a conference be held where once parliamentarians debated. Forming the heart of the current congress center are the former federal government Plenary Chamber and the Waterworks, with the annex scheduled to compliment the facility from mid 2009. As located in direct neighbourhood the three buildings can be obtained and therefore give the ideal frame for big events, exhibitions and concerts.
The current buildings of the World Conference Center Bonn are the Plenary Chamber and the Waterworks. A distinctive congress building located directly on the Rhine, the former German Bundestag Plenary Chamber is one of the most striking parliamentary buildings in the world. Here the parliamentarians held their meetings from 1992 to 1999. The Plenary Chamber holds up to 1.275 people, while additional conference rooms provide space for up to 184 participants. The bright glass-steel construction is a multipurpose building, equally suitable for conferences and conventions, exclusive product launches or atmospheric evening events.
The close-by 19th Century Waterworks is equipped with state-of-the-art conference technology. Between 1986 and 1992 it served as a provisional Plenary Chamber for the German Bundestag. Today, the Waterworks provides historical ambience for events of up to 600 people. The neighbouring Pumphouse offers direct access to the Waterworks and primarily lends itself to receptions.
From mid 2009 the large hall of the extension offers rowed seating for 3.000 participants. A partitioned off hall offers space for up to 830 additional guests. Four conference rooms are also provided, which can be sectioned off and feature independent foyer areas.
