Riversides at the Rhine and the Sieg, wooded areas in the Siebengebirge and the Voreifel – the historical monuments here are as manifold as the sceneries. A variety of fortresses and castles bear witness to the past.
Important sights tell stories of the various historical epochs in the region. History can be experienced with the help of numerous fortresses and castles. Some of them are open to the public, others are known for their hospitality or open their gates for concerts and events. A lot of fortresses and castles though are private residences and can therefore just be admired from outside.
