Metropolregion Rheinland Bei aller Stärke sind sich die Akteure in Stadt und Landkreis bewusst: Der nationale und weltweite Standortwettbewerb um Firmenansiedlung und die besten Köpfe ist immens. Deshalb koope- rieren nicht nur Bonn und der Rhein-Sieg-Kreis intensiv miteinander, etwa wenn es um die Aus- weisung gemeinsamer Gewerbeflächen geht. Die Stadt, der Kreis und die IHK sind zudem Grün- dungsmitglieder der Metropolregion Rheinland e.V. Die Metropolregion zählt rund 8,6 Millionen Einwohner und umfasst 23 Landkreise und kreisfreie Städte sowie die Städteregion Aachen in den Regierungsbezirken Düsseldorf und Köln. Ziel des Vereins ist es, durch geeignete Maß- nahmen die Zusammenarbeit der kommunalen Gebietskörperschaften und Wirtschaftskammern im Rheinland auf politischer, wirtschaftlicher und administrativer Ebene zu intensivieren, hin zu einer Metropolregion von europäischer Bedeu- tung. Auch das kommt dem Wirtschaftsstandort Bonn/Rhein-Sieg zugute. Fazit Die Stärke und Vielseitigkeit des Wirtschafts- standortes Bonn/Rhein-Sieg strahlt auch positiv auf die Tagungs- und Kongressbranche aus. Mit dem Flagschiff WCCB und vielen weiteren Veranstaltungsorten, dem Kultur-, Hotel- und Gastronomieangebot, der Nähe zu zahlreichen Firmen und Wissenschaftseinrichtungen sowie der zentralen Lage ist Bonn ein idealer Tagungs- ort. Die Vielzahl von Veranstaltungen wiederum stärkt ihrerseits den Wirtschaftsstandort. Das nennt man eine Win-Win-Situation. The city, the district and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce are also founding members of the Metropolregion Rheinland e.V. With the flagship WCCB and many other event locations, the cultural, hotel and gastronomic offerings, the proximity to numerous companies and scientific institutions as well as the central location, Bonn is an ideal conference venue.
