The Company

Structure

Tourismus & Congress GmbH Region Bonn / Rhein-Sieg / Ahrweiler (T&C) was founded on 20 December 1996 as part of the compensation measures between Bonn and Berlin. The purpose of the company is to strengthen tourism in the region of Bonn/Rhein-Sieg/Ahrweiler, develop and implement comprehensive tourism and event advertising (Original entry in the Federal Gazette of 27 May 1997).

The shareholders of T&C consist of representatives of the bodies in the area and private enterprise:

  • Federal city of Bonn (38.5%)
  • Tourismus Förderverein Bonn / Rhein-Sieg / Ahrweiler e.V. (30%, members are various municipalities in the Rhine-Sieg district, hotel owners, catering establishments, companies and associations)
  • Rhine-Sieg district (19.5%)
  • Bonn/Rhine-Sieg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (6%)
  • Hotel- und Gaststätteninnung Bonn/Rhein-Sieg-Kreis r.V. (6%)

The T&C employs approximately 20 staff. These are distributed over the areas of destination sales (conferences/tourism), destination marketing (conferences/tourism), hotel reservations, press and general administration.


Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the T&C include in particular targeted advertising in the areas of city tourism, conferences, congresses and events as well as for museums and cultural and leisure activities in the region of Bonn/Rhine-Sieg. The provision of tourist services, initiation and support for conferences, congresses and events as well as an agency and booking service using a modern EDP system are also part of the core responsibilities. Furthermore the range of tasks includes providing advice and support to the tourist service-providers as well as the coordination of tourist events and activities in the region. (Status April 2013)


Objectives

The company's objectives include increasing the level of awareness and emphasising the advantages of the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg region as an attractive travel destination, promoting tourism in the region and positioning against national and international competition. In order to reach these objectives, the following measures are being implemented:

  • Market observation and analysis
  • Bundling of offers and resources in the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg region
  • Development of market and target group specific offers
  • Building up and expanding the sales structures to optimise sales of tourist-cultural offers in the region
  • Building up and expanding a skilled team for congresses and conferences from the aspect of sustainability
  • Development of innovative products and tourist measures
  • Building up and expanding the regional, tourist and interactive hotel reservation system
  • Creating communication platforms for service-providers
