Aus den Zeiten, als Bonn Residenzsitz der Kurfürsten war, stammen
noch viele barocke Bauwerke. Das Beethoven-Haus, sein Geburts-
haus, beherbergt heute die umfangreichste Beethoven-Sammlung
weltweit und erzählt aus dem Leben des weltberühmten Musikers.
Jedes Jahr im Herbst feiern Bonn und die Region das Beethovenfest.
Eine hohe Museumsdichte und hochkarätige Ausstellungen auf der
Museumsmeile reichern die Kulturregion an.
Mehr als vier Jahrzehnte wurde in Bonn Bundespolitik gemacht. An
vielen authentischen Orten ist die Geschichte erlebbar. So präsentieren
beispielsweise Adenauers Wohnhaus, der Kanzlerbungalow, das
Palais Schaumburg, die Villa Hammerschmidt oder der ehemalige Plenar-
saal der Bundesregierung Einblicke in die deutsche Zeitgeschichte.
Many Baroque buildings still date back to the period when Bonn was
the place of residence of the Electors. The Beethoven-Haus, the birth
place of the composer, now houses the most comprehensive Beethoven
collection in the world and provides information on the life of the wor-
ld famous musician. Every year in autumn Bonn and the region celebra-
te the Beethoven Festival. A high density of museums and high-quality
exhibitions on the Museumsmeile enrich the region’s culture.
National politics took centre stage in Bonn for more than four decades.
The history can be experienced at many authentic sites. For example
Adenauer’s residence, the Chancellor’s bungalow, Palais Schaumburg,
Villa Hammerschmidt or the former plenary chamber of the German
parliament provide insights into German contemporary history.
